Summer Mission Trip Week 12

Aug 2, 2026    Thomas Fitzpatrick

Living on mission and carrying out the mission of Jesus doesn't exempt us from facing really difficult moments and really tough questions. In Acts 12, as the church is growing at a rapid pace, we read about two moments/stories that raise a ton of questions. One is the death/execution of the apostle James, the other is the miraculous rescue of the apostle Peter. Although it's easy to focus on the miracle story, what about the murder? Why was Peter saved and James not? Why did God open doors for Peter but allow James to die? Acts 12 doesn't necessarily give us the answer to these questions, but it does help us see how the early church continued to live for Jesus even when that journey became rather difficult and confusing.
